Roughing it

Had another very productive meeting today. We were lagging a little bit but we laid a lot of the groundwork down. I finally got the bookmark done and showed it to the group; they approved and so I will see about getting it printed out next. May also add the section in which the opticianry libraries are kept in the library or the slogan we have for the display case, which Hamilton came up with ("See you at the library!"). We have assembled the case and will get together again on Thursday to build a mockup. At that point, Adri will have the sketch done and Victoria will have the report/synopsis dine and we will all have the materials that we are bringing in as well. It is all coming together nicely.

In which we decide on roles

Had a very productive first meeting with my group today. Everyone had a lot of great ideas about what to do and we are all in agreement with the direction we want to go in. David actually came up with the final concept. Everyone liked the bookmark idea so I am going to work on that and touch it up a bit for some visual flair. Will go downtown today to find monocles for OOMPH. Victoria is going to write the rough draft of the report and Adri is going to do a sketch of the our design. Ash is going to type up all of our notes. David and Hamilton are going to work on finding images of celebrities wearing glasses as well as opticianry-related images. We want to have a slogan so all of us are going to brainstorm up some ideas before we meet up again next Tuesday. Everything is shaping up nicely.

Cloudy with a chance of blurries

Did some research today to find a blurry font for our assignment and found this awesome guide on e-how on how to make a font blurry. That way, the two images (blurry and unblurred) with match up.

Turning a negative into a positive!

While searching the library today to see what Opticianry books the Seneca library has I was somewhat disheartened to find they are mostly reference manuals and guidelines, which lack visual "oomph" and would be hard to make "pop" in an inviting way in a display case. Then it hit me: put glasses on the books! This way, we can draw attention to the books despite their relative dryness. This is going to be great! Group mates think it is a good idea; will bring it up at our group meeting on Tuesday again.

Linking up is hard to do..

So! We trek ever onward! Right now we have an e-mail dialogue going, but we are still having trouble getting everyone's blogs linked up, due to privacy settings. I am working on getting everyone to change their privacy settings, albeit temporarily. More details to follow...

More ideas!

Newest and greatest idea! Have the back of the case be an eye chart that is blurry and have the huge glasses facing it and have a smaller clearer version in the lenses! Along the side we can have famous/glamorous people wearing glasses and a couple of "action" shots of people in the biz. Pretty sweet..

Opticianry

We're number 1! Group number 1 that is. We were assigned our groups today for our first assignment. The people in my group are Ashley, Adri, Victoria, Hamilton and David. We were group number one because we are clearly the best, haha.  We drew topics at random and we got Opticianry. We already have a lot of good ideas, including a display that uses a large pair of glasses as a centerpiece; for our bookmark, we will have a mini eye-chart that looks something like this:

So there we have it! Right out of the gate and we have already got some ideas. We are going to meet for the first time before next class on Tuesday and have already linked up on Facebook. More details as they develop.
